Psychological studies show that woman used to live longer than men. Nowadays, women close up to men and die earlier. Why is that so? Woman used to be at home, look after the children and did not work. The stress level men experienced at work, being responsible for the family by earning the main income and facing more adversity and danger being away from their family affected the stress level.
As you might know women and men work part-time or full-time and women often additionally look after the children. Lots of hats have to be handled for both parties. Further, it might families look after the parents when their children are in puberty, adding even more pressure.
If leadership positions are held and projects are due the physical side might take a toll. Are you feeling constantly tired? It could be sign of overwhelm…
Does that sound familiar to you?
😩 You are responsible for several projects, budgets and a team of employees.
😩 You are renovating a house or have family members to look after.
😩 You feel tired and lacking energy. You do not know why you should get up in the morning.
😩 When something comes in the way, you get angry and annoyed quickly.
😩 You get colds, muscle pain or headaches regularly.

I am Gudrun, a psychologist, coach and counsellor offering online coaching. I have worked in this field for over twenty years, helping people of all kinds find a happier and more relaxed life.
My Master's Thesis in 2002 dealt with breaks during work. Do you know that changing the kind of work is already a break for your brain? That means when you have prepared slides for a presentation and then walk to the copy machine, your brain has a break because different parts of your brain are activated.
Later I started to run and at some point I thought running marathon would be a great dream to come true. Of course it took time to prepare, but some time later on I run my first 24-hour run with 64 km. Berlin, I am coming. That September, I ran my first of three Berlin marathons, followed by a few ultra marathons. What has it got to do with your stress?
Reducing stress is like a marathon. You start with short distances, and with time and consistency, the distances expand. At times, you might overtrain and injure yourself. But when the injury is healed, you pick up the training and reach the next level.
With every relapse, you know that it is time to adjust your behaviour. In the past, you have tried to reduce your stress through discipline and experienced that the stress level did not sink because you tried to sprint. Because you used discipline and willpower to reach your goal, you experienced a higher stress level after every attempt.
